Kelly and two other club leaders from the undergraduate UNM ACS student chapter entered the ChemBiz competition and got selected as finalists to pitch live in Atlanta. The competition was centered around making a sustainable product from peaches. Their pitch was for a wound healing cream, incorporating peach-derived phenolic compounds into a hydrogel. They ended up placing 2nd out of 6 teams in the finals, and received a $1000 prize!
Mar 2026: Anisha gave a seminar in the department of chemistry at NM Tech. It was a great visit!
Mar 2026: Anisha presented at the 2026 APS Global Physics Summit! The conference had great sessions on biomolecular condensates.
Jan 2026: Anisha and Mikayla presented at the 2026 FASEB conference on Phase Transitions in Cellular Signaling and Disease. Anisha chaired a session. Mikayla bagged a Poster Award! Congrats Mikayla!
Jan 2026: Welcome graduate students Siddha and Jyoti to our group!
Oct 2025: We organized and hosted three very well-attended sessions at the 2025 ACS RMRM conference - two on Biomolecular Condensates and one on General Biological Chemistry. All students presented their research. This was a very successful event!
July 2025: Our paper on native fluorescence of condensates is posted online on BioRxiv: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.07.13.663051v1
July 2025: Our collaborative UNM PERC grant for solid phase nucleic acid synthesizer is funded! We will soon be able to make custom oligos!
June 2025: Our AKTA Go protein purification system is installed and ready to go!
