Summary and Suggestion
The objective of this practicum is to develop my teaching skills, improve my English proficiency, and exchange information about education in Indonesia and the Philippines.
This program was conducted over one month. During this period, several activities took place, such as a campus tour, dalliasat program, class observation, welcoming program, making lesson plan, teaching, and blog creation. The main parts of this practicum included classroom observation, teaching in class, and blog creation.
From this practicum, I gained extensive knowledge about the learning process at UNP Lab School and acquired new experiences. I was also able to improve my English skills, become more courageous, and build my confidence. Additionally, I learned a lot about different cultures from various countries, as I met people from the Philippines and Thailand. By participating in this program, I also expanded my connections with other participants, friends, students, campus institutions, and the entire community at the University of Northern Philippines.
The main challenge I faced was adapting the 7E Inquiry-Based Learning steps to fit within a one-hour time frame. Additionally, the reliance on printed learning media was also a challenge for me. However, this experience taught me valuable lessons about different practices, which will add to my knowledge and experience.
Overall, this experience was wonderful. I met many kind people, including friends, campus staff, and the local community. There are many differences between Indonesia and the Philippines, but these differences taught me many valuable lessons. Thank you to SEAMO and the University of Northern Philippines for the opportunity to be here.
I hope that in the future SEAMO will continue to conduct the SEA-Teacher program across Southeast Asia, as this program is very beneficial for students. It helps to hone teaching skills, provides a broader understanding of education, and serves as a platform for cultural and systemic information exchange.
