ECON 261: Principles of Macroeconomics (Fall/Spring 2021-2025) - about 50 students/semester
The course explored various topics in economics, including the fundamental concept of scarcity as the driving force behind economic decision-making. It delved into the two essential aspects of markets: demand and supply, and examined the implications of price ceilings and price floors. The class also covered two significant price indices, namely the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the GDP implicit price deflator. Additionally, it explored the concept of unemployment, different approaches to calculating a country's real GDP, and the dynamics of economic growth and business cycles.
ECON 375: Industrial Economics (Fall 2023) - about 30 students
The course encompassed both the theoretical principles of industrial organization and practical examples derived from real-world business practices. A significant emphasis was placed on industry policies and regulations. Key topics covered included the theory of the firm and market structure, monopolistic practices, oligopoly and collusion, strategies to deter market entry, product differentiation, advertising, and the role of industry regulation.
