I am Shahriar Muhammad Arifur Rahman, an Environmental Science and Climate Change graduate. Before studying MSc, Climate Change at University of East Anglia in the UK, I finished my BSc (Hons.) at Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences (IFES), University of Chittagong, Bangladesh in 2010 and accomplished MS in 2011.My aim to be an academic always tempted me to engage in different research groups home and abroad. I have had the opportunity to come in good contact with some quality researchers and academics and have been mentored for quite a long time. Working as a professional Environmental Consultant and EIA specialist for almost two years for my firm called Sustainable Environmental Services (SES) was surely an added bonus to my Environmental Science teaching career. No other events in my life could boost up self-confidence level like the way the selection as an International Climate Champion by British Council back in 2009 did. On that crucial stage of my life I had the opportunity to represent my knowledge, community and country in several occasions. As a student, I was blessed to be awarded by scholarships like Commonwealth Scholarships in UK etc. and fellowships like NSICT fellowship by Ministry of Science & Information and Communication Technology etc.Science of Climate change, Climate change policy development and international negotiation, Sea level rise, Waste management, Landscape Management etc. are the areas of my utmost interest. My love for Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing intrigued me to educate myself in some high voltage softwares like ArcGIS, Idrisi, ENVI, Erdas Imagine etc.Listening to music, reading books and novels, watching movies and documentaries, surfing the internet etc. are my favourite pastime. I have the passion for travelling. I am engaged in voluntary mapping with Google Map Maker. I love to take photos with my DSLR :)
