These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Shadow Work mobile application, widgets, AI features, subscriptions, and related services ("Shadow Work", the "App", "we", "us", or "our"). Shadow Work is operated by AppMerge.
By downloading, accessing, purchasing, subscribing to, or using Shadow Work, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Shadow Work is distributed through platforms such as the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your use of the App is also subject to applicable platform terms, including Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement where applicable. These Terms supplement platform terms and do not limit any rights you may have under applicable law.
Shadow Work provides self-reflection tools, AI-guided journaling, dream interpretation, mood tracking, Shadow Hotline chat, Jungian-inspired archetype insights, compatibility reports, growth tasks, reminders, and widgets.
The App is for personal self-discovery, journaling, and reflection only. It is not a medical device, healthcare service, therapy service, counseling service, diagnostic tool, crisis service, or emergency service.
Shadow Work does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, legal, financial, or other professional advice. AI-generated content is informational and reflective only.
The App may discuss emotionally sensitive topics, patterns, relationships, dreams, shadow work, archetypes, mood, and personal behavior. This content is not a diagnosis, treatment plan, risk assessment, or substitute for a licensed professional.
If you are experiencing a crisis, may harm yourself or others, feel unsafe, or need urgent support, stop using the App and contact local emergency services, a crisis hotline, or a qualified professional immediately.
Shadow Work uses AI systems to generate reflections, dream interpretations, hotline replies, archetype profiles, compatibility reports, summaries, and prompts. AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, inappropriate, emotionally intense, or not suitable for your situation.
You are responsible for evaluating AI output before relying on it. You should not make important personal, medical, legal, financial, relationship, safety, or mental health decisions based only on App content.
You are responsible for the text and information you enter into the App. Do not submit information you do not have the right to submit, including another person's private information without permission.
The App may create or use an app account, user ID, generated credentials, device identifier, or subscription identity to save your content and provide access. You are responsible for maintaining control of your device and account access.
You agree not to:
Interfere with, reverse engineer, exploit, scrape, overload, or disrupt the App or backend services.
Attempt to bypass paywalls, subscription checks, security rules, rate limits, or access controls.
Use the App for unlawful, harmful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, fraudulent, or exploitative purposes.
Upload malware or attempt unauthorized access to any system.
Use AI features to generate content that violates law, third-party rights, or platform policies.
Shadow Work may offer free features and paid premium access through auto-renewable subscriptions or other in-app purchases. Available plans, prices, trial terms, billing periods, renewal terms, and included features are shown in the App before purchase.
Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not directly process your payment card. Your subscription renews automatically unless canceled according to the platform's rules before the renewal date.
You can manage, cancel, or restore subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings and through App features where available. Deleting the App does not automatically cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by the platform where you purchased the subscription, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Premium features may depend on subscription status, entitlement checks, AppActor, Apple, Google, backend availability, internet connection, and App version. We may add, remove, modify, limit, or replace features over time.
If you enable notifications, Shadow Work may send reminders, insight drops, app updates, and reflective prompts. You can disable notifications in your device settings.
Widgets may display a small snapshot of App information such as a prompt, mood label, archetype label, streak, or remaining tasks. Do not enable widgets if you do not want this information visible on your device screen.
"Your Content" means information you enter, save, upload, or generate through the App, including journal entries, dream logs, hotline messages, mood entries, compatibility notes, archetype answers, and other reflections.
You retain any rights you have in Your Content. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, transmit, display, format, analyze, and use Your Content only as needed to provide, maintain, secure, improve, and support the App and its AI features.
You understand that AI features may require sending Your Content to third-party AI service providers to generate responses.
The App, design, software, branding, text, graphics, icons, prompts, templates, interfaces, and other materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the App for your own lawful personal use in accordance with these Terms and applicable platform rules.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works from the App except as permitted by law.
Your use of Shadow Work is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand how information is collected, used, shared, and protected.
The App may rely on third-party services, including Apple, Google, Firebase, Gemini, PocketBase, AppActor, hosting providers, and platform billing services. Third-party services may be subject to their own terms, privacy policies, availability, limitations, and data practices.
We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, policy changes, billing systems, AI model behavior, or platform decisions outside our control.
We may update, suspend, discontinue, modify, limit, or remove any part of Shadow Work at any time. We may also perform maintenance, change supported platforms, update pricing, change free limits, adjust premium features, or change AI prompts and model behavior.
We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or compatible with every device, operating system, region, or network.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shadow Work is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.
We do not warrant that:
The App will meet your expectations or produce a particular emotional, psychological, personal, or relationship outcome.
AI outputs will be accurate, safe, complete, reliable, or appropriate.
Stored content will never be lost, corrupted, delayed, or unavailable.
Premium features, AI services, subscriptions, or notifications will always work without interruption.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including emotional distress, loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, service interruption, or reliance on AI-generated content.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the App will not exceed the amount you paid for the App or subscription in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
We may suspend or terminate access to Shadow Work if you violate these Terms, misuse the App, create legal or security risk, attempt to bypass payment or security systems, or use the App unlawfully.
You may stop using the App at any time. If you have an active subscription, you must cancel it through Apple App Store or Google Play to stop future renewal charges.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice where required. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
