The physician associate role

All students should understand the role of the physician associate  and be able to demonstrate the following:

1. Recognise the role of the physician associate and the importance of effective interpersonal relationships with patients and professionals.

2.  Attain interpersonal skills to facilitate the patient's understanding of his/her disease process and cooperation with his/her therapy.

3.  Demonstrate concern for the patient by maintaining a professional attitude and by respecting the patient's privacy.

4.  Communicate effectively with other members of the health care team.

5. Develop an understanding of the capabilities and limitation of a PA
