Writing a career in child psychology has many different formats and expectations. Some types of writing you can find in a child psychologist’s career are appointment conclusions, prescriptions, emails, appointment overviews, progress notes, and case study reports. All of these types of writing are vital in this line of work; communication is very important in general. In a field that changes every day, such as psychology, it is so important that we make a point of recording every piece of data we obtain. Whether that is posting in a blog, in a scientific journal, or just jotting it down on paper, it's so important that we keep everything we do.
Some communication skills that are needed to help with these types of writing are owning your voice, being able to explain things clearly, and being able to adapt to your audience, or in this case, patients. Being able to explain the same topic to so many different intellectual levels is very important, as we work with young kids and teens. As I researched this career, I realized how important communication really was, specifically writing. Having such a diverse workload, you must be able to adapt and change your tactics for every patient.
