Ryan bateman

Mr. Ryan serves as the Band Director at South Gibson County Middle School. Born and raised in Trenton, Tennessee, Mr. Ryan has known the Gibson County area his whole life. His musical career started at Trenton Rosenwald Middle School where he began learning the trombone. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2017 and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 2021, both from the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Prior to serving SGCMS, he served as the Assistant Band Director at West Carroll Jr/Sr High in Atwood, Tennessee. Although he is in his 2nd year of teaching, he has taught marching band and color guard for 10 years to local area schools. 

In addition to teaching, he enjoys reading, traveling, playing video games, and learning about teaching music. Mr. Ryan is so excited to be with the South Gibson community and can't wait to go on a musical journey with you all!
