With the aid of a night vision and full spectrum ghost camera, you can detect visual anomalies or potential paranormal activity with high-quality images. While night vision allows you to view unseen infrared light (IR), full spectrum is a new technology specifically designed for ghost hunting.

It empowers you to see far beyond our normal sight range and into areas of the light spectrum in which, theories suggest, ghosts reside. These cameras pair nicely with a laser grid or a spike sensor, combining motion sensor technology with full spectrum cameras.

I'd love to know how they "verified" it was a ghost, as well as what credentials they have that provide them the professional authority to claim it a ghost. Heck, knowing how Orwellian the Louisiana state legislature is, the TAPS organization could probably be legally shut down for practicing ghost hunting without a license. Serious as a heart attack.

If you're serious about this, you might want to look into "full spectrum" cameras with no built-in IR filtering, or having your T3 modified in such a way... as I think those are what is preferred for "ghost hunting". A faster lens (wider aperture) would be a good addition as well. Even a cheap Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 would be amazingly better in low light than your current lenses. Ideally you'd have something fast and wide angle, like an EF 24mm f/1.4L (but those get pricey for the average person).

A full spectrum camera is basically the same thing as a regular camera with the filter removed from over the lens. The filter usually makes it unable for ultraviolet and infrared light to get through, without it the full spectrum of light is able to enter the camera. This means you can capture some of the UV in sunlight and certain frequencies of infrared.

This small change in the camera then makes it possible to see variations in the lighting within the environment you would have been unable to see before, an important tool if you think about the history behind spirits and their unique ability to manipulate lighting.

So, to summarise, to give your full spectrum camera the most opportunity to capture anomalies in the light. First, use it in total darkness in order to potentially capture apparitions affecting the visible, UV, IR light while the surroundings are dark. Next, use visible lights, infrared lights and ultraviolet light to light the field of vision of your camera. This will allow you to see any dark figures manipulating the available light source. Full spectrum lights are available from our store, allowing you to switch between visible, UV, IR light or any combination of them, allowing you to experiment with your full spectrum camera.

The IR and UV light filters have been removed from this camera, allowing you to use it on your paranormal investigations to take photos or videos in full spectrum. It comes with brand new AA batteries and a 32GB memory card so you can get right to shooting!

These night vision camcorders are very high-end producing the best results and are frequently used in video production by the larger televised ghost hunters including Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters international, Haunted Collector and Ghost Adventures. While these cameras are outstanding they also reflect the prosumer price level and are not typically within a normal person's budget. These range in price from $2500 and up.

Sony PMW EX3 XDCAM EX HD -Flash-memory based high definition camcorder capable of a variety of frame rates and resolutions using Sony's new XDCAM-EX intraframe codec. A "big-brother" to the PMW-EX1, the PMW-EX3 ups the ante by providing an interchangeable lens mount. The Ghost Adventures team began using this camera in late 2011 for the documentary section of the show and is typically wielded only by Aaron Goodwin.

If You're wondering what Destination Truth, Fact or Faked or Ghost Hunters are using now, their Night Vision Camcorders are nothing but production camcorders with an adapter that allows them to attach a night vision monocle. In the shot below you can see the Sony PMW-EX3 on the left and Sony HXR on the right. This means that they only need one set of cameras and just replace the lenses with the IR scopes when they switch to night time shooting. They also use a wide array of low-light helmet cameras cabled to these camcorders to save the footage (watch the backpack shots at night). The night vision scopes that they use are called Astroscopes

A quick update to this list. Many have been asking what the POV cameras are that are used by Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, Destination Truth, Fact or Faked and the newest show to hit the roster Haunted Highway on Syfy.

Ghost Adventures use the 'Drift HD' Helmet Camera series as their "POV" cameras cliped on their shoulder. The GAC Crew used the Drift X170 as their first POV camera and have subsequently updated to the Drift Innovation HD170.

The Syfy Channel crews use the GoPro HD Hero2 Outdoor Ed helmet cameras. These are frequenly seen mounted in the cars as the 'conversation camera' and used with slight modifications mounted to a swing support arm on the Destination Truth team in the field. Due to the narrow field of view at night these are always used as the personal camera aimed at the team member's face.

The new Syfy channel show Haunted Highway use the Sony HVR-A1U with a GoPro Camera facing the user so that the two cameras in use can also serve to record the investigator asking questions and reactions. This makes the HVR-A1U quite a bit heavier by mounting a camera on a camera but also does well to replace the need for additional hands to shoot video from different angles.

The Sony HDR Series does not have an IR feature, it has a night scene mode that enhances the light slightly in low lit areas, but it will not see in complete darkness. The only HD sony camera that has night shot is around $800 right now, so this is misinformation.

Hi, I am just getting into ghost hunting. We sometimes work in complete darkness, I am looking for a camcorder that can record in the dark, records to SD card and budget is about $500.......which camcorder model would you suggest?

Many thanks

Hi! I'm looking for a camera which can capture low light scenes (in fact, no light or night ambient light). I got a SONY HXR-MC2000E (+1500 Euro on March 2014). It said it worked fine using SONY's "low lux" feature. But the image is really noisy. I'm looking for a video camera that can record blacks with no noise. If you got any idea how can I fix this or which lens can I use for this (this is not a SLR camera). Great! Or if you know any camera recording digital (SDHD card or internal memory) in full HD format... please, let me know. Thank you so much!

Ghost hunting is the process of investigating locations that are purportedly haunted by ghosts. Typically, a ghost-hunting team will attempt to collect evidence supporting the existence of paranormal activity.

Ghost hunting has been heavily criticized for its dismissal of the scientific method. No scientific study has ever been able to confirm the existence of ghosts.[1][2] The practice is considered a pseudoscience by the vast majority of educators, academics, and science writers.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

Ghost hunters use a variety of electronic devices, including EMF meters, digital thermometers, both handheld and static digital video cameras, including thermographic and night vision cameras, night vision goggles, and digital audio recorders. Other more traditional techniques are also used, such as conducting interviews and researching the history of allegedly haunted sites. Ghost hunters also refer to themselves as paranormal investigators.[11]

Ghost hunting was popularized in the 2000s by television series such as Most Haunted and Ghost Hunters, combined with the increasing availability of high-tech equipment. The Atlantic Paranormal Society reported a doubling in their membership in the late 2000s, attributing this to the television programs. Despite its lack of acceptance in academic circles, the popularity of ghost-hunting reality TV shows has influenced a number of individuals to take up the pursuit.[13]

Small businesses offering ghost-hunting equipment and paranormal investigation services increased in the early 2000s. Many offer electromagnetic field (EMF) meters, infrared motion sensors and devices billed as "ghost detectors". The paranormal boom is such that some small ghost-hunting related businesses are enjoying increased profits through podcast and website advertising, books, DVDs, videos and other commercial enterprises.[14]

One ghost-hunting group called "A Midwest Haunting" based in Macomb, Illinois, reported that the number of people taking its tours had tripled, jumping from about 600 in 2006 to 1,800 in 2008. Others, such as Marie Cuff of "Idaho Spirit Seekers" pointed to increased traffic on their websites and message boards as an indication that ghost hunting was becoming more accepted. Participants say that ghost hunting allows them to enjoy the friendship of like-minded people and actively pursue their interest in the paranormal. According to Jim Willis of "Ghosts of Ohio", his group's membership had doubled, growing to 30 members since it was founded in 1999 and includes both true believers and total skeptics. Willis says his group is "looking for answers, one way or another" and that skepticism is a prerequisite for those who desire to be "taken seriously in this field."[13] 2351a5e196
