Delta: Delta Secondary, Sands

Zone Qualifying:
BCSS recommends that approximately 25% of teams in each zone participate in a zone championship.
The SFAA zone can have a maximum of 44 schools, most likely 34-36, leading to an 8-team tournament.
Surrey will have approximately 50% of all participating schools within the SFAA (20-22), Richmond has around 10, and Delta a maximum of 7.
Therefore, Surrey will be granted 4 of the 8 berths (1:5 ratio), Richmond 2 (1:5 ratio), Delta 1 (1:7 ratio). This is consistent with BCSS recommendations of representation, as well as participation, with a slight nod to strength in Richmond based on past zone & provincial results.
Lastly, the 8th berth will be awarded strictly on strength between Richmond #3 and Delta #2.
The Zone Championship will be an 8-team, 2-day, tournament.
At the Senior level, the Zone Championship will also be the qualifying method into the BCSS Provincial Badminton Championships. The South Fraser Zone is allocated 3 berths by BCSS in Badminton.
In order to ensure that league play is competitive, teams will be seeded based on the results within their district. And to ensure that the Zone Championship provides every team an equal chance, the following format will take place:
HOW TO QUALIFY FOR A ZONE CHAMPIONSHIP?
Surrey – The top 4 teams from league play will be ranked based on league play results and earn a spot in the Zone Championship (league play format will be set up by the Surrey coordinator)
Delta – The Top 1 team from league play will earn a spot in the Zone Championship, the 2nd place team will compete for a “wildcard” 8th berth into the Zone Championship (league play format will be set up by the Delta coordinator)
Richmond – The top 2 teams from the Richmond District Playoff results will earn a spot in the Zone Championship, the 3rd place team will compete for a “wildcard” 8th berth into the Zone Championship (league play format will be set up by the Richmond coordinator)
