Alcatraz Island also known as "The Rock" is just a short ferry ride from Pier 39. Come take an up close look at the famous prison that use to house some of the most notorious criminals of all time including Al Capone. Don't worry, there are no more dangerous criminals here. The Rock is now a museum with guided audio tours open to the public. Take a walk through the cells set exactly how there were for the prisoners. Cameras are allowed so be sure not to forget yours. You will want to take photos and maybe video too to share about this visit. It's a very unique tour and something you should see at least once. This also makes for a great field trip opportunity for students. Where else can you step back into history while taking in the fresh sea air and all the wonderful things the pier has to offer? Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance in order to avoid waiting in line for them. See button link below for more information on Alcatraz Tours and ticket prices.
