There are many questions that people have when they show interest or even first join the Florida Highway Patrol. Below will be a list of our most frequently asked questions to provide some insight on how the Florida Highway Patrol functions.
Question: How long is the training for the Florida Highway Patrol?
Answer: Training can vary anywhere from 2-3 days to a two-week span. The time it takes to finish one's training is determined by the effort they make to complete it.
Question: What is the Florida Highway Patrol's probation policy?
Answer: Once an recruit has finished their training, they enter a two week probationary period as a Trooper. During this probationary period, they are subject to removal and any other disciplinary action deemed fit by Command Staff. Every time someone is promoted, they are also placed under a two week probationary period to ensure if they are ready for the rank they have achieved and to prevent people from transferring to another department immediately after being promoted.
Question: How does one get promoted in the Florida Highway Patrol?
Answer: To get promoted within the Florida Highway Patrol, one must be active and show good performance as a Trooper. Promotions are earned through activity and performance as we want Troopers to show command staff they want more responsibility.
