Simulationfl Rule Changes
SIMULATION FOOTBALL LEAGUE INTRODUCES PROMISING PROGRESSION AND RULE CHANGES
The Simulation Football League (SFL) has recently announced a series of significant changes to its progression system and rules, aiming to improve player experience and enhance team dynamics. These updates, set to take effect in the upcoming Season 23 off-season, have been the result of months of collaboration with players, team leadership, and the league's transition to 4K23.
One of the key updates involves the enhancement of the progression system, which has undergone a thoughtful revamp following extensive feedback. The previous system, which featured easily exploitable thresholds and similar player builds, led to a devaluation of attributes across the board. As a result, the league has opted for a more streamlined and dynamic approach that allows players greater freedom to build the character they envision.
Commissioner Cameron Irvine expressed the need for consistent buying and selling of attributes, improved incentives for player participation, and enhanced team support in developing promising contributors. With these changes, teams will be better equipped to nurture and shape the next generation of skilled players, while individual athletes will have the opportunity to tailor their attributes to their desired play-style.
Additionally, the SFL has finalized the salary cap for Season 23 at $35 million. The off-season cuts made under this cap will result in a 50/50 split, with 50% of the saved funds going directly into the player's progression bank and the remaining 50% returning to the team. Notably, teams now have the flexibility to distribute accumulated funds to their players' progression banks at their discretion. Moreover, players can actively sell attributes during the season at market rates, providing them with even greater control over their progression.
The league has also made adjustments to its rookie onboarding process. Starting with Season 23, there will be a single annual Rookie Draft held in December. This change allows players ample time to develop their skills before competing in the major league, ensuring a more seamless transition from the minors to the pros level.
Commissioner Irvine acknowledged that further refinements and clarifications may be necessary as the league progresses towards its goals. However, he emphasized that these changes reflect a commitment to improving the product and enhancing the overall experience for players and fans alike. Irvine expressed his hope that the adjustments address a wide range of concerns raised by the league's diverse player community.
With Season 22 soon coming to a close, all eyes are on the highly anticipated 22nd SFL Championship Game, which marks the end of the current season. Season 23, with its exciting changes and revamped progression system, is set to kick off at the 2024 SFL Convention on Friday, July 12. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements regarding this season's convention and prepare for a new era of SFL football.
For more details and specific information about the progression and rule changes, Commissioner Cameron Irvine will be featured on various SimulationFL content shows, including Around the SFL, Streets are Talking, SFL Gameday with Mike O'Neal, and SFL Nights with AJ Striker, offering further insights and clarifications on the recent announcements.
SFL is dedicated to continually improving its product and providing an exceptional football experience for its players and fans. These latest changes mark an important step forward, ensuring a more engaging and enjoyable future for the league.
