PD Session to help break down, and apply the Lucy Calkins Writing Curriculum in classrooms.

The goal of this session was to encourage teachers to dig deepr into understanding their students in order build better relationships.

Once teachers receive their beginning of the year or mid-year benchmark data we focus our learning on organizing, understanding, and responding to their students data.

After field testing implementation of a Shared Reading Lesson Plan format using only priority standards and DOK levels, teachers engaged in the beginning stages of learning during this PD.

This lesson was one of the final PD sessions for teachers to infuse Writing About Reading into their daily Shared Reading Lessson Plans. Student growth after this cycle of learning was impressive as evidenced by better explanations of comprehension through writing, deeper thinking, asking more questions, and proficiency growth on district benchmarks.
