How does Boudoir Photography Work?

A great photo session starts with a conversation to plan out the shoot, to decide what type of looks you want to photograph, where these should be photographed, and lastly how you want to use the images. Are you looking for an intimate portrait to hang in your bedroom or a collection of images to be tucked away and only viewed by someone special?

Prior to the session you should spend some time pampering yourself at a salon to get your hair and makeup done. You want to both look and feel your best for the shoot.

During the shoot, we will help suggest a variety of poses that are the most flattering and help you decide on the different looks or wardrobe choices that will photograph the best.

After the shoot, we will go through all the images and schedule a reveal. At the reveal you get a sneak peak into the best images from the session and we make final selections for printing or album design.

How do you pose for a boudoir photo shoot?

We will help you pose with positions and angles that help you look your best. Leave the posing to us for those go-to poses that work well for your body type. Your welcome to try different looks and the most important part is to look natural and relaxed. With that being said we can help verbally direct you to a more flattering position or tweak your pose slightly to help accentuate your best features and minimize any flaws. We are experienced with work people to find their best side and what looks the most flattering. We have taken a number of professional workshops and with our years of experience we can always find the angles and positions that help you look your best.

Nude Boudoir Photography

Some boudoir sessions are done entirely in lingerie or silk robes, while others are done in the nude. Most Nude Boudoir sessions are typically a mix of both nude, topless, and lingerie images. We will shoot to your comfort level and the level of nudity is something to discuss during our pre-shoot consultation. If you are comfortable posing nude and want that kind of look and feel to your images, we can photograph you nude for part of or the entire session. Many who pose nude prefer to keep a robe on hand for modesty between sets and lighting setups. In 2021, Nudity is now common on both Instagram and Twitter in this modern era and trust that it is not an uncommon request for a boudoir photographer.

Lingerie Photos

We also have done quite a few photo-shoots with the client dressed completely in lingerie and not all sessions involve a level of nudity. Your session can be a mix of lingerie or nude. Let's talk in advance of the session to determine how you want the images to look and what level of wardrobe you want to be wearing. Many women like to model in sexy lingerie or high end lingerie brands like Agent Provocateur which you have likely seen being worn by many of your favorite top models, the Italian brand La Perla with it's timeless, haute couture aesthetic, and Livy, who makes French lingerie with a contemporary spin on the classics.
