Threading a Needle

Threading a Needle

Why is it so hard??

Students tend to struggle to find a good way to thread a needle.  There are a few main steps that you need to follow in order to be successful.

Step 1:  Cut out a piece of thread that is about two feet long.  You want a longer piece because you want to be able to double strand the thread so it is stronger.

Step 2:  Cut your thread end at a diagonal so there is a pointy end (this will be hard to see, but trust me, it's there).

Step 3:  Hold the thread in your non-dominant hand with the thread very close and pinched between your thumb and index finger.

Step 4:  Bring the needle down over the top of the thread.

Step 5:  Pull the needle through and then line up the two ends.  You want to pull them together so they are one piece.  Then, you make a knot at the end, opposite of where the needle is.
