The Environmental Engineering Laboratory at Kyung Hee University is looking for highly motivated prospective PhD students (or combined MS-PhD course), who hold an MS or BS in engineering fields (civil/environmental/biological/chemical), microbiology, bioinformatics or any fields associated with the research projects described below. The PhD students will get involved in various research projects, including water/wastewater treatment, environmental bioprocess, environmental chemistry, microbiome engineering/management, bioinformatics, and computational modeling.
Good communication (written and oral) skills in English would be highly desirable. An official English test score (TOEFL, IELTS, TEPS) is mandatory for graduate program admission in Kyung Hee University. The graduate student scholarship includes full tuition fees and monthly stipends will be offered under the guidelines of Kyung Hee University. Postdoctoral research associate
A postdoctoral research fellow position in environmental biotechnology and/or advanced water/wastewater treatment
A postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of environmental microbiology and biotechnology is available in the Environmental Engineering Laboratory at Kyung Hee University. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher who holds a PhD in any fields (see below for potential projects). The successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills (with spoken/written English, if not Korean) and be highly motivated, independent, and self-directed.
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research related to wastewater-based epidemiology, environmental system modeling and disease surveillance using scikit-learn/tensorflow/pytorch for AI and python/R/PERL for bioinformatics, microbiome engineering/management for urban water cycles, environmental bioinformatics (e.g., metagenomics), carbon accounting/emission evaluation, pollutant removals in environmental biochemical processes (e.g., biodegradation, adsorption, advanced oxidation, etc.), and/or synthesis/application of adsorbents for water treatment.
The appointment will be extended up to several years based upon satisfactory performance. We will provide salary/benefits depending on the candidate's qualification, under the University guideline.
