From Visualisation to Discovery: Techniques in Visual Analytics
From Visualisation to Discovery: Techniques in Visual Analytics
Effective visual representations are not just tools for communication—they are essential for exploration, analysis, and scientific discovery. This course bridges the gap between visualisation and visual analytics, equipping PhD students with the skills to advance their research. Covering topics such as 2D and 3D visualisation, medical visualisation, machine learning for data exploration, and dimensionality reduction, it provides practical methods for uncovering patterns, trends, and insights in complex data.
Course layout:
Through hands-on exercises and real-world case studies, students will learn to design and apply visual analytics techniques that facilitate data-driven discovery.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to transform raw data into meaningful insights using advanced visualisation and analytical methods.
Where and when?
The on-campus activities will take place between 27-31 October 2025 at Theatrum Visuale. Theatrum Visuale is situated at the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala.
