STLP Minecraft students recreated D Day as part of their Minecraft project!
Process
D-Day occurred in World War II, through the Battle of Normandy on June 6, 1944. D Day was the first day of a two month, 3 week, and 3 day long battle called Operation Overlord.
Our team decided to build a recreation of D-Day because we knew a lot about it and we loved the history of this event. Once we decided what to build, we researched D Day by looking at the different books in the library and on Google. We searched up different pictures of what we like to get an idea of it.
Then, we started to build. First, we built the sea wall of Normandy, France which is where D Day took place. The sea wall was an important feature of our build because it was the main defense of the Germans. Next, we built the big boat with the American flag because it resembles an LST or landing ship tank. We chose to duplicate the LST-325. We built a small boat because it resembles the Higgins boat. We built the boats because the battle had over 5000 vessels assault
Then, we made the bunkers, added barbwires and the spikes around the wall. We built the bunkers because the beaches of Normandy were lined with over 180 German bunkers. We also built the bunkers because they resemble the actual bunkers that were there.
The websites we used are from different places, but the main resources we used is from:
