According to U.S. Flag Code, American Flags should be properly and respectfully retired once they reach the end of their lifecycle. However, many Americans don't know how or where to donate their damaged/worn flags once they can no longer be flown. "Serving Our Stars and Stripes" is a Girl Scout Gold Award project that seeks to provide an outlet for this issue through the use of Flag Retirement Boxes.
