OPTIMIZING ENVIRONMENTAL COMFORT THROUGH FACADE TREATMENT
"This study aims to explore the effectiveness of sun-shading devices in optimizing daylighting factors to achieve thermal comfort in modern office buildings within the Malaysian context. Given Malaysia’s equatorial climate, characterized by high solar radiation and consistently warm temperatures, the implementation of passive design strategies such as sun-shading devices is critical to mitigating heat gain and reducing dependence on energy-intensive cooling systems. This research also addresses the increasing emphasis on sustainable building practices, particularly in urban centers, where the integration of shading solutions plays a pivotal role in achieving energy efficiency and thermal comfort. By aligning with Malaysia's commitment to green building standards, such as the Green Building Index (GBI), this study evaluates how shading devices contribute to reducing operational energy costs, enhancing indoor environmental quality, and supporting climate-responsive architectural design. Furthermore, the findings are expected to provide insights into designing adaptable, sustainable office spaces that meet the evolving demands of a rapidly urbanizing nation."
