Half day: 9 AM - 1 PM     talks & lunch.

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 18 AUGUST 2023

Contact Connie Darmanin (c.darmanin@latrobe.edu.au) about late registrations.

This workshop is a satellite event of the 26th International Union of Crystallography Congress in Melbourne (21-29 August 2023).

Serial crystallography experiments at synchrotron and X-ray free-electron laser sources are creating new opportunities to collect data more efficiently and from ever smaller samples, as well as to probe molecular dynamics. Both chemical and macromolecular crystallography has benefitted significantly. However, the preparation, delivery, and analysis of diffraction data from millions of tiny crystals present a range of challenges. One of the most significant technical hurdles is how to rapidly and continuously deliver fresh crystals to the X-ray beam.

In this workshop we will hear from pioneers of serial crystallography, showcasing their latest research in macromolecular and chemical serial crystallography. Anyone interested is welcome to attend and exchange ideas during the morning session, followed by lunch (provided), which includes a poster session.

The afternoon session will be a ‘hands on’ sample delivery workshop, where participants will get to see firsthand some of the latest developments in microcrystal sample handling and delivery. This will include demonstrations of sample preparation techniques and setting up different sample delivery systems.  The afternoon session is limited to 40 participants, so book early.
