I am enrolled at the University of Novo Mesto Faculty of Economics and Informatics and the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, Slovenia.
I am Assistant Professor researching time series econometrics and tourism.
I was an Erasmus+ fellow at the University Linne in Växjö, Sweden, and the University of Wien, Austria.
I was Erasmus Mundus Ghent's postdoctoral researcher at the University of Montenegro.

Highlights

Tourism after the pandemic. The predictions: 

"Tourism managers should be aware that low-paid employees could not be sufficient for high demand". Published by Gričar, Šugar, Bojnec, 2021

"Labour supply shortages are assumed to lead to an increase in tourism wages".  Published by Južnik Rotar, Gričar, Bojnec, 2023.

"In other words, viruses have a negative /.../ effect on tourist arrivals /.../ in 2019 and 2020. On the other hand, the subsequent period shows a positive and significant impact on E. coli and Campylobacter.  Each person infected by E. coli in the destination country (e.g., Slovenia) modified tourist arrivals by a rise of 3807 persons and by Campylobacter a rise of 21,061 travellers per month". Education

I have a PhD from the department of economics at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Management entitled "Analysis of the dynamics of prices in the restaurant business". Supervisor: professor Štefan Bojnec. 

The Senate of the UP awards the "Srečko Kosovel" Prize for students of the University of Primorska to Sergej Gričar, PhD, for exceptional achievements in the preparation of his doctoral dissertation.

I hold a second PhD from the University of Rijeka, Faculty of tourism and hospitality Management entitled  Implementation of Vector Auto-Regression Models in Tourism: State of the Art. Analysis and Further Development . Supervisor: professor Tea Baldigara.
