I am a political scientist (Ph.D. from Central European University) and currently a postdoctoral teaching fellow at Bard College Berlin. In October 2019, I will join the Varieties of Democracy Institute / Department of Political Science of the University of Gothenburg as Assistant Professor.

In my research, I compare the survival strategies of authoritarian regimes in Central Asia and beyond and am particularly interested in how autocratic leaders justify their rule. I work with qualitative and quantitative methods - or both! I am passionate about cutting-edge approaches such as fsQCA, quantitative text analysis, web scraping and other computational methods.

The different sections of this website provide further information about my publications and on-going projects, my teaching experience, and other matters related to my research.
