This Privacy Policy describes how SEOSleek (“the extension”) handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and to being transparent about how the extension operates.
Core Privacy Principle: SEOSleek does not collect, store, or sell your personal data, and it never requires an account. The on-page analysis runs locally in your browser. To display SEO metrics, the extension requests public data from third-party services — these requests carry only non-personal information such as a website’s domain name or a search term, never your identity.
No account required: You can use SEOSleek without creating an account or providing personal details.
No tracking: We do not use third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics) or tracking pixels.
No backend we control: We do not operate our own server that receives or stores your data. To fetch metrics, the extension calls public third-party APIs directly from your browser — see Sections 2 and 4.
SEOSleek shows Domain Rating (DR) and domain age beside Google search results, and provides an on-page SEO audit of the page you are viewing. It involves two kinds of processing:
Local (read-only): When you open the popup on a website, SEOSleek reads that page’s HTML — title, meta tags, headings, links, images, structured data, and detected technologies — in your browser’s memory to build the report. It does not modify the page, and the analysis is discarded when you close the popup.
Public lookups (network): To show DR and domain age, SEOSleek sends the domain names of the results on the page to Ahrefs’ free public endpoint (api.ahrefs.com) and to RDAP (rdap.org). To show keyword ideas, it sends your current Google search query to Google Autocomplete (suggestqueries.google.com). These requests contain only a domain name or search term — never your name, email, or any personal identifier — and are used solely to retrieve and display the metrics.
Retrieved DR and age values are cached locally on your device (in Chrome’s storage.local) for up to 7 days to avoid repeat requests, and can be cleared anytime from the extension’s settings. Nothing is transmitted to or stored by us.
We request only the minimum permissions necessary for the extension to function:
storage: Caches fetched DR/age values and remembers your enable-disable and filter preferences locally in Chrome’s storage.local API.
activeTab: Grants access to the page you are viewing — only when you click the SEOSleek toolbar icon — so the popup can read its on-page SEO elements and detect its technologies.
scripting: Runs a one-time, read-only analysis script on the active tab (only after you click the toolbar icon) to build the on-page report.
Host permissions: Used to fetch metrics from api.ahrefs.com, rdap.org, and suggestqueries.google.com, and to display DR/age chips on Google Search results pages.
To retrieve metrics, SEOSleek sends non-personal data — the domain names of results on the page and your current search query — to the following public services:
Ahrefs (api.ahrefs.com) — Domain Rating
RDAP / rdap.org — domain registration date (for domain age)
Google Autocomplete (suggestqueries.google.com) — keyword suggestions
These services receive only that non-personal data, used solely to display the metrics to you. We do not share data with advertising networks, data brokers, or any other external processor. SEOSleek is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ahrefs or Google.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or operational requirements. Since we do not collect email addresses, we recommend checking this page periodically for updates.
