The Research Group of Dynamics and Arithmetic Structures on Manifolds (DASOM) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship beginning August-September 1, 2026.
We welcome applications from researchers whose work relates broadly to dynamics, geometry, and number theory, including (but not limited to):
Dynamical systems, including homogeneous dynamics, Teichmüller dynamics, arithmetic and algebraic dynamics, and complex dynamics
Number theory, including analytic number theory, Iwasawa theory, Diophantine geometry, and Diophantine approximation
Geometric group theory, geometric topology, and low-dimensional topology
Applications that build connections between two or more of these areas are particularly encouraged.
Researchers working on homogeneous dynamics, dynamics on moduli spaces, and Diophantine approximation are especially encouraged to apply.
The group maintains an active research environment, including regular seminars, research discussions, and visits by international researchers. Current research themes in the group include interactions between dynamical systems, geometry, and number theory, such as homogeneous dynamics, dynamics on moduli spaces, Diophantine approximation, and geometric structures on manifolds.
The position is intended to support independent research while fostering collaboration within the group. Postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to pursue their own research programs while interacting with faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students. They are expected to participate in and help organize seminars and research activities.
The working language of DASOM center is English, and knowledge of Korean is not required.
Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to:
Conduct high-impact independent and collaborative research.
Present findings in seminars and international conferences.
Contribute to the academic and social life of the department.
Teach one research topic course or equivalent lecture series (2.5 hrs * 15 weeks) per academic year.
A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field, completed by the start date. (We encourage applicants with a Ph.D. awarded on or after January 1, 2022.)
Demonstrated excellence and promise in mathematical research.
Ability to contribute to a collaborative, international research environment. Seoul National University is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
Annual Salary: 50,000,000 to 60,000,000 KRW (commensurate with the specific fellowship).
Benefits: Comprehensive national health insurance and industrial accident compensation insurance.
Housing: Eligibility to apply for university-managed faculty/postdoc housing.
Up to $2000 travel funds for relocation before start date.
Research Support: Access to research funds and travel support for domestic and international conferences.
