Attended the AI conference in Indianapolis and participated in table discussions as a graduate student leader. It was a great opportunity to interact with AI engineers, computer scientists, and educators from Google, Purdue, and other organizations.
Attended the Purdue AI conference as a presenter, a proposal abstract reviewer, and a graduate student panelist. With other peer participants' commitment, I could share valuable insights into current and future aspects of AI education.
One activity was conducted aiming to help 7 of young students, aged 5-8, explore basic concepts of computational thinking, which are required for understanding how AI works. The event was held in Lafayette, Indiana, and successfully led the students to enjoy the whole 2 hours activity including structured first half and unstructured the other half.
The Purdue Graduate Student Education Council (GSEC) represents graduate students in the College of Education at Purdue University, fostering professionalism and enhancing student experiences. GSEC promotes growth, collaboration, and advocacy, organizing events like the Annual Graduate Student Education Research Symposium (AGSERS) 2024 and encouraging participation in research and community engagement. I joined last fall 2023, so I'm still in the learning phase, but I'm trying to do my part by participating in various activities organized by GSEC.
Through the development of AI education programs tailored to real-world needs and policy research, the association's aim is to discover exemplary models in AI education and enhance teachers' research capabilities. Additionally, we facilitated collaborative research among educators to foster a sustained environment for interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting ongoing research initiatives.
At the request of Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, I participated in a consultation on how to improve the use of the student management system for elementary care classrooms, and worked on software development and improvement. We discussed the challenges teachers face in managing students after school during the pandemic.
I engaged in on-site improvement activities in line with a unit school's plan to become a leading school for AI education by developing an AI program based on the ADDIE model to foster future capabilities. Additionally, I participated in a relevant meeting to establish an information education center that can actually apply AI and SW education to students at the school level.
