Catalyst Structure & Activity Laboratory
Open Positions!
The CatStructure Lab in the Department of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) is recruiting highly motivated research interns, Ph.D. students, and postdoctoral researchers.
Our research focuses on understanding and controlling catalyst structure–activity relationships for sustainable energy and carbon conversion. We integrate rational materials design, advanced structural characterization, catalytic performance evaluation, and scalable manufacturing to develop catalysts and electrodes with high activity, stability, and industrial applicability.
Research Areas
• Thermochemical catalysis and waste-to-fuels conversion
• Dry and hybrid reforming of methane and waste-derived hydrocarbons
• Electrocatalysis for green hydrogen production
• Single-crystalline oxide supports and catalyst structure–activity relationships
• Ammonia synthesis and decomposition
• Scalable catalyst, electrode, and structured-catalyst manufacturing
Who Can Apply
• Research interns interested in gaining hands-on research experience
• Prospective Ph.D. students in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, energy engineering, or related disciplines
• Postdoctoral researchers with relevant expertise in catalysis, electrochemistry, materials synthesis, characterization, or reaction engineering
Prior research experience is advantageous but not required for intern and Ph.D. applicants. Postdoctoral applicants should demonstrate relevant research experience and a strong publication record.
How to Apply
Please send the following materials to Prof. Seok-Jin Kim at seokjinkim@skku.edu:
• Curriculum vitae
• A brief statement of research interests and motivation
• Expected starting date
• Publication list for postdoctoral applicants
Please use “Application – [Position] – [Your Name]” as the email subject.
