SEO And Keywords

SEO is what people use to get traffic to their websites. It stands for Search Engine Optimization and there are a few different things that you can do to make the search engines happy with you. That said, as the search engine algorithms change and the Internet continues to evolve, there is some discussion that SEO is not as relevant as it used to be and that the ways to get noticed will have to change.

Keywords are the biggest part of SEO. You want to find the keywords that people are searching for but that not everyone is using on their site. The goal is then to get your site to the top of the search engine rankings as most people do not go past the first page or two of results that they get. There are many different tools out there to help you find keywords and learn how they rank and how much traffic there is for them. Some of these are free and others cost money.

Once you have your keywords, you want to use them on your website. Again, there is controversy here as to how you should use them. Some people believe in using them in your content naturally and how they fit in and some say you should have 1 or 2% density within the content on your site. That means, for every 100 words of content, you use your keyword once or twice. There are some that say you are okay to use your keyword up to 5% but depending on the keyword you are targeting, it can be difficult and awkward. Regardless, do not go beyond that as it can be seen as keyword stuffing and your information will no longer make sense.

It is a good idea to come up with more than one keyword to target especially if you are using some that have a lot of traffic and competition. Pick a few that are smaller and not as comment. For instance, "travel" is a very common keyword but if you do a bit more searching, you may find that "safe travel for cross dressers" is not very common and it is something that you can target more easily.
