1.0 Introduction and Compliance
1.1 Welcome to SenteNow. We highly value your privacy. This policy is designed to explain how we process your personal information when you access or use the SenteNow mobile application (hereinafter referred to as "we", "us", or "the App").
1.2 This policy strictly adheres to the Data Protection and Privacy Act (DPPA) of 2019 of the Republic of Uganda and Google Play's privacy requirements for financial services, ensuring that your data processing is legal, fair, and transparent.
2.0 Information Collected Automatically
We may collect relevant personal information through direct provision by you, third-party sources, or automatically when you use our services:
2.1 Personal and Financial Information: Name, gender, date of birth, National Identification Number (NIN), and educational level.
2.2 Contact Information: Mobile phone number, secondary numbers, and residential address.
2.3 Financial Background: Income, occupation, and loan purpose.
3.0 Device Permissions and Data Collection
When you use this application, in order to assess your credit eligibility and prevent fraud risks, SenteNow may request access to the following permissions only after obtaining your explicit authorization:
3.1 Device Information
3.1.1 Collection Scope: Includes device operating system, Android version, IMEI number, IMSI number, MAC address, serial number, Android ID, screen size, and other hardware information.
3.1.2 Purpose of Use: To maintain secure identity authentication, optimize application performance, support technical troubleshooting, comply with financial security requirements, and prevent malicious multi-account registrations.
3.2 WiFi Network Data
3.2.1 Monitoring Content: We monitor the user's network status and may access Wi-Fi network data, SIM card name, network type, and MAC address. We use network data (IP address, connection status, network type) to assess risks.
3.2.2 Purpose: To avoid data risks, improve network request latency, and provide a better user experience.
3.3 SMS Permissions
3.3.1 Filtering Logic: We employ intelligent recognition technology to extract only SMS messages related to financial transactions (e.g., bank transfers, mobile wallet statements, repayment reminders). We do not collect or access any personal social privacy, verification codes (OTPs), or non-financial information.
3.3.2 Purpose of Use: Used for credit risk modeling and anti-fraud identification, refining repayment ability assessments, and providing accurate prompts.
3.3.3 Encrypted Storage: Financial data is encrypted and securely uploaded. Data is uploaded only to our secure servers. You may withdraw authorization at any time, but this may affect the success rate of your loan.
3.4Emergency Contact Permissions
3.4.1 We do not access your full communication records. You only need to voluntarily provide the name and phone number of your emergency contacts. This data is used solely for identity verification and risk assessment.
3.5 Location Information
3.5.1 Collection Scope: We only collect your approximate location information (coarse location) during application use. Collection stops when the application is closed.
3.5.2 Collection Purpose: Used to confirm that you are within the Uganda service area, verify the consistency of application information, and identify abnormal logins to prevent fraud.
3.5.3 Data Security: We do not collect precise GPS tracks or perform background tracking. Data is transmitted via encryption to our secure servers. You can turn off this permission in the settings at any time.
3.6 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
3.6.1 We use cookies and similar technologies to understand user behavior and improve our services. You can adjust these preferences in your browser or device settings.
4.0 Data Collection Methods
We collect your personal data primarily through two methods:
4.1 Direct Submission: When you use our services, such as applying for a loan, filling out online forms, or communicating with us, we collect the information you provide directly.
4.2 Automatic Collection: When you use our application, website, and related services, we also automatically collect usage data. This includes data sent by your device, such as location, device type, and your interaction with our platform.
5.0 How We Use Your Data
We process your personal information based on the necessity of providing credit services and fulfilling legal obligations, specifically including:
5.1 Identity Verification and Compliance: Verifying identity through government databases.
5.2 Credit Decisions: Building credit models and scoring to assess your loan eligibility and credit limit.
5.3 Service Management: Processing loan disbursements, tracking repayment progress, and providing customer support.
5.4 Security Protection: Monitoring abnormal activities to prevent fraud, hacking, and other illegal acts.
6.0 Information Sharing and Disclosure
We promise to share your information only in the following necessary circumstances:
6.1 Service Providers and Affiliated Institutions: Sharing with partners who support our business operations (e.g., transaction processing, credit investigation agencies).
6.2 Legal Requirements: Responding to court orders, regulatory inquiries, or executing legal procedures.
6.3 Debt Recovery: If you default on payment, we may provide necessary information to legal collection agencies or credit bureaus.
6.4 Emergency Contacts: We will only contact the emergency contacts you provided to verify repayment intent if we cannot reach you through regular channels.
7.0 Data Security Protection
7.1 Secure Transmission: We use industry-standard HTTPS/SSL protocols to encrypt all collected data and securely transmit it to our dedicated servers.
7.2 Encrypted Storage: Your data is processed with advanced encryption technology during storage to prevent unauthorized access, leakage, or tampering. Without your explicit permission, we will never share your personal information with any third party.
7.3 User Control: By default, we only collect corresponding data after your explicit authorization. You can withdraw authorization and request the deletion of relevant data at any time via device settings or by contacting us through in-app support channels.
8.0 Data Retention Policy
We retain your personal data only for the period necessary to achieve the purposes described in this policy (e.g., providing services, risk assessment).
8.1 Retention Period: Identity information, loan agreements, and credit assessment data will be retained until the expiration of the relevant legal statute of limitations to address possible legal claims.
8.2 Legal Compliance: According to Ugandan laws (such as tax and anti-money laundering requirements), even if you stop using SenteNow, we still need to retain necessary transaction records within the statutory period.
8.3 Disposal: Once the legally required retention period expires or the data is no longer commercially necessary, we will permanently delete or anonymize your personal information.
9.0 Changes to the Privacy Policy
We may revise this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in business development, technological updates, or legal and regulatory requirements.
9.1 Revision and Notification: If major revisions occur, we will issue an announcement through the application, update the version date, or notify you via the contact information associated with your account.
9.2 Your Responsibility: It is your responsibility to periodically review this page for the latest information on our data processing practices.
9.3 Acceptance of Terms: Your continued use of the SenteNow application or its related services after the publication of the revised privacy policy indicates that you have read, understood, and fully accepted the revised terms.
10.0 Your Rights
10.1 Access and Correction: You have the right to view the personal information we hold and correct any errors or incomplete data.
10.2 Deletion and Restriction: Outside of the statutory retention period, you may request the deletion of personal data or restrict our processing of specific information.
10.3 Withdrawal of Authorization: You can withdraw permission for data access at any time. However, please note that withdrawing core authorizations may result in service termination.
10.4 Right to Object: You have the right to object to the use of your information for marketing or automated risk assessment.
11.0 Acknowledgment and Acceptance
11.1 Informed Consent: Processing actions and legal obligations generated before the withdrawal of authorization remain valid. Downloading and using this application indicates that you have fully read, understood, and agreed to this policy. You authorize us to collect, process, and manage your personal information in the manner described.
11.2 Emergency Verification: You agree that in the event we cannot contact you directly or an overdue payment occurs, we have the right to contact your authorized emergency contacts to verify identity or confirm repayment status.
11.3 Withdrawal of Authorization: You have the right to withdraw data authorization via written notice or app settings. You understand and agree that withdrawing core permissions may result in the inability to continue loans or apply for services, and that legal processing actions and established legal obligations prior to withdrawal remain valid.
12.0 Limitation of Liability
We are not responsible for any additional or special losses resulting from the following:
12.1 Difficulties you encounter while using this application, or your degree of reliance on this application;
12.2 Any relationship or agreement between you and any other party, regardless of whether we are aware of the possibility of such losses;
12.3 We are not responsible for delays or failures beyond our control.
13.0 Advertising and Promotional Materials
13.1 Marketing Communication: We may send you marketing information through the application, mail, telephone, SMS, email, online chat, or active notifications to inform you of specific offers, activities, or benefits provided by us, our partners, sponsors, or advertisers.
13.2 Opting Out: You can choose to stop receiving these marketing messages at any time by using the "Unsubscribe" link in the email or by contacting us through the provided contact methods.
13.3 Important Note: Even if you choose to unsubscribe from marketing information, you can still continue to receive non-promotional information related to your account, loan transactions, and other important information.
14.Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If we become aware of such collection, we will take steps to delete the information.
