Presented by Judith Rose, LCSW
In this training, participants will strengthen their understanding of the basics of interpersonal communication while building their skills around discussing trauma, high-risk behaviors, sexuality, substance use, racism, and other sensitive topics with caregivers with empathy, clarity, and cultural awareness. Learners will explore the dynamics of sensitive topics surrounding foster and kinship care, common caregiver challenges, and ways to approach these topics with sensitivity and a nonjudgemental stance. Lastly, participants will gain the skills needed to de-escalate caregiver emotional dysregulation, validate feelings without reinforcing harmful perspectives, set boundaries respectfully, and address ethical concerns.
