Sensing movements of touched objects on the surface of fingers must be useful for us humans to properly interact with the environment. Despite its functional importance, the computational mechanism of human tactile motion perception from cutaneous inputs remains poorly understood. I will introduce our challenges to this problem, including the detection of local motion signals, feature tracking, motion aftereffects, somatotopic difference, and texture perception.
