Driving Question:
Learning Objectives:
1. I will be able to present my new skills and experience of closely working with a Civil Engineer.
2. I will be able to use this opportunity to grow my understanding of civil engineering and architecture and decide if I want to make this a career focus.
3. I will be able to take this experience to draw up ideas of what I could have done better, so hopefully when I am searching/employed at a job I can be the best at what I do.
Day One : Monday
I learned where and how I will be using my space to create this Hunting Lodge for Lance. This showed me how an architect would work on project, what works and doesn't work.
Day Two: Tuesday
I learned about vestibules and what goes into making even such a small project work and go smoothly. This is real world experience that will help me get a picture of what working as an architect will actually be like.
Day Three: Wednesday
I learned about landscape engineering and the way water will move throughout an apartment system.
Day Four: Thursday
I learned how the Lodge's interior would look. This helped me get an idea of what the finished product would look like.
Day Five: Friday
I learned how to download different materials and components to use in the Lodge. This started to complete the look of the Lodge.
Day Six: Saturday
I learned how to edit walls to make them fit into the roof correctly and use 3D view as a tool to help me do that. This will help me if I ever need to use Revit in the future.
Day Seven: Sunday
I learned how to fix my laptop to load Revit when its not working. This will help me next year when I'm in architecture school and my computer doesn't work.
Day Eight: Monday
Final Project Reflection
I think this has helped me realize what I enjoy doing. I was happy initially to get to major in Architecture at Miami, and now I am even more excited after spending a week with an architect. I have learned how to use my computer to run Revit, and what setup works best for me. I also learned how to run a Civil Engineering/Architecture company, how to schedule everything and stay on time for meetings and check-ins. Overall, this experience has helped me become more excited to study in this field, and has gotten me ready for the next four years studying architecture.
