Privacy Policy for Senior Home Launcher
_Last updated: March 1, 2026_
Your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy explains how the Senior Home Launcher app ("the App") handles the information it can access on your device.
Information We Access
The App requests a limited set of Android permissions so it can provide its core functionality. **All data stays on your device — the App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information with any server or third party.**
Permissions
**Contacts (`READ_CONTACTS`)** | Used only when you choose to import an existing contact into the launcher's favourites list. Contact names, phone numbers, and photos are read from the device and stored locally so the App can display one-tap call or message shortcuts. Contact data is never sent off-device. |
**Phone (`CALL_PHONE`)** | Allows the App to start a phone call directly when you tap a favourite contact's call shortcut. The number dialled is the one you saved in the App. |
**Query Installed Apps (`QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES`)** | Required for the home-screen launcher experience so the App can discover, list, and launch the other apps installed on your device. The list of installed apps is stored locally and is never transmitted. |
| **Internet (`INTERNET`)** | Enables opening web links via shortcuts, processing in-app purchases through Google Play Billing, and verifying purchase status. The App does not send personal data to any external server. |
**Billing (`com.android.vending.BILLING`)** | Used to offer an optional "Pro" upgrade through the Google Play in-app purchase system. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Google Play; the App only receives a confirmation of purchase status. |
**Notification Access (`NotificationListenerService`)** | An optional feature the user can enable from the App. When granted, the App reads incoming notification data (such as sender name and message count) **solely** to display missed-call and unread-message badge counts on contact and app shortcuts. Notification content is processed in real time on-device and is **not** stored persistently or transmitted anywhere. |
Features That Use Device Hardware
**Battery Level** | The App reads the current battery percentage using system APIs to display it on the home screen. No battery or usage data is collected or transmitted. |
**Flashlight / Torch** | The App can toggle the device's camera flash LED on or off as a convenience flashlight. No images or camera data are accessed. |
**Camera Quick Action** | The App provides a shortcut to open the device's default camera app via a system intent. The App itself does not access the camera, capture photos, or process any image data. |
How We Use the Information
- Contact details you import are stored locally on the device so the launcher can provide one-tap call or message shortcuts.
- Phone permission is used strictly to trigger the system dialer with the number you selected.
- Notification data is processed in memory to compute badge counts and is not persisted or shared.
- Installed-app information is cached locally to speed up the launcher home screen.
- Battery level is read periodically to update the on-screen indicator.
- The App **never** shares your contacts, phone usage, notification content, installed-app list, or any other personal or sensitive information with third parties.
Data Storage
All data created by the App — including favourite contacts, pinned apps, settings, and preferences — is stored exclusively in the device's local storage (SharedPreferences). No cloud storage, analytics services, or remote databases are used.
Data Retention and Control
- You can remove contacts, pinned apps, or any personalisation at any time from within the App.
- You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's system settings.
- Uninstalling the App deletes **all** locally stored data created by it.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect new features or legal requirements. If we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where practical, highlight the updates in the App or accompanying documentation.
