An FSA ID is a username and password that you must use to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education (ED) websites. Your FSA ID identifies you as someone who has the right to access your own personal information on ED systems such as the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form or the myStudentAid mobile app.
Your parent must also create his or her own, separate FSA ID. If you are a dependent student, then your parent will need his or her own FSA ID in order to sign the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form electronically. An email address or mobile phone number cannot be used with more than one FSA ID. S
What if I do not have a Social Security Number (SSN)? What if my parent doesn't have a SSN? Students who do not have an SSN, will not create an FSA ID. If your parent does not have a Social Security Number (SSN), they will not complete an FSA ID.
Review the "Creating & Using your FSA ID" presentation and create yours before October 1st!
If you missed the FSA ID workshop in English, make sure to review the "Creating & Using your FSA ID" presentation and create your FSA ID. Send your counselor a photo of the screen that says "Your FSA ID has been created" to verify you are finished. Also, don't forget to help your parent create theirs! Parents without a SSN will not create an FSA ID.
