Are you a STEM undergraduate student eager to kickstart your research journey? The Phanindranath Sengupta Summer Research Fellowship 2025 is designed to provide financial assistance (up to ₹40,000) to help you pursue a self-arranged research internship. This is not only an internship-fellowship program but a mentorship program by current researchers and PhD students across the world that empowers you to kickstart and navigate your research journey.
The fellowship is dedicated in the name of Late Phanindranath Sengupta (1920-1993), a social worker from Belgharia, Kolkata.
STEM undergraduates (preferably from 2nd year) from West Bengal state universities (first 21 universities listed here : https://wbsche.wb.gov.in/universities).

We are a group of researchers and PhD students across the US and India who want to foster the research environment in West Bengal.
1. Mentorship from PhD students from US universities (includes email writing and research statement writing).
2. Financial support to spend two months anywhere in India (up to 40k INR)
3. The mentorship support will continue through their higher education journey.

2. Decisions announced by March 30, 2025.
3. Accepted students will receive an email regarding all the further procedures for activating the fellowship.
4. Mentorship will be provided to all the selected candidates on securing a research internship.
5. A final offer letter from a professor must be submitted to activate the fellowship.
6. Fellowship will be provided in one or two installments upon confirmation.
The student is expected to submit a technical report about the internship work after the internship period.
