Dr. Carr was able to help our group learn more about teen mental health. Senator Starfish and Dr. Carr explored topics such as
environmental factors such as family systems, social media and its tie to self confidence, attachment styles, and temporary situations.
Tactics: We will teach youth and adults about teen mental health by starting a teen mental health club. By doing this, we will be addressing stress caused from school, partnering with adults in our community to teach them about signs to look for in struggling teens, and teaching teens about healthy coping mechanisms.
The clubs main goal is to educate adults and other teens about teen mental health. It is important to teach adults about warning signs of poor teen mental health. It is also important to teach teens healthy coping mechanisms if they are struggling with mental health. We would invite adults to be apart of our club so adults can learn from teens. We will also provide informational material to students about poor teen mental health and how to cope.
