TSI

The purpose of the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), mandated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, is to grant institutions of higher education the flexibility and responsibility to improve individualized programs and ensure the success of students in higher education.

All new-to-college students are required to take a placement test to determine if developmental courses are needed in reading, writing, and/or mathematics.

All students must meet the following requirements before enrolling in restricted courses.

• Take a state-approved placement test in reading, writing, and math, unless the student qualifies for an exemptions, waiver or exception; or,
• Successfully complete non credit developmental courses to enroll in restricted courses.

The TSI Assessment is the state-approved placement test offered at TCC. To satisfy Texas Success Initiative (TSI) and course prerequisite requirements, you must meet or exceed the following minimum passing standards:
