Título: Degenerations.
Resumen: Degenerations are everywhere. In Algebraic Geometry, they are used to simplify problems or to compactify spaces. In this talk we willl be concerned with degenerations of linear series. A linear series is a vector space of sections of a line bundle, or a collection of divisors parameterized by a projective space, or yet a rational map to a projective space. The interplay between these characterizations is very fruitful. The question that concerns us is: As a variety degenerates, what linear series degenerate to? This is a question that was addressed by many people, most famously in the theory of curves, by Eisenbud and Harris (limit linear series) for curves of compact type and Harris and Mumford (admissible covers) for maps to the projective line. I will explain three related ways of understanding such degenerations in a much more general setting. They are born from ideas first introduced by Osserman, and connect to the theory of Mustafin varieties. The results presented are joint work with several people: Eduardo Vital (Bielefeld), Omid Amini and Felipe de León (Paris-Saclay), Renan Santos and Carlos Urtecho (IMPA).

Título: From graphs to complex manifolds.
Resumen: Dani and Mainkar have shown that any finite graph gives rise to a 2-step nilpotent Lie algebra. In this talk we study the existence of complex structures on such 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras. We introduce the notion of adapted complex structure, namely a complex structure that maps vertices and edges of the graph to vertices and edges, and we analyze the restrictions imposed by the integrability condition. We completely characterize the graphs that admit abelian adapted complex structures, showing that they belong to a small family of graphs that we call basic. We prove that any graph endowed with an adapted complex structure (J) contains a unique (J)-invariant spanning basic subgraph, and conversely, that every such graph can be constructed through a systematic expansion procedure starting from a basic graph. We also explore geometric and combinatorial consequences, including the existence of special Hermitian metrics as well as other graph-theoretic properties.
Título: Concordance, Homology Cobordism, and Floer Theories.
Resumen: Knot concordance is the study of knots cobounded by annuli I×S1 embedded in the cylinder I×S^3. The set C of smooth concordance classes of knots is an abelian group with connected sum as the binary operation. This knot-theoretic setting is deeply intertwined with the topology of 3-manifolds and their cobordisms via classical geometric constructions such as Dehn surgery and cyclic branched covers. The natural 3-dimensional analogue to the knot concordance group is the homology cobordism group Θ^3_Z.
In this talk, we will explore the interplay between C and Θ^3_Z through the lens of Floer homology. We will focus on how knot and 3-manifold invariants serve as powerful obstructions to both knot sliceness and homology cobordism. Along the way, we will highlight how the structure on one side of this relationship frequently illuminates the other.
Título: Algebraic versions of T² and of P¹× P¹ and Hochschild cohomology.
Resumen: We analyze the Hochschild cohomology of triangular algebras that capture some aspects of the geometry and topology of the torus and of P¹× P¹, as well as of the deformations of these algebras. In particular, this shows that the cup product in the Hochschild cohomology of a triangular algebra generally does not follow the intuition from monomial algebras. Our examples also demonstrate that the Hochschild cohomology of a deformation of an algebra may not undergo a reduction of dimension but still have a different cup product structure, and that the Hochschild cohomologies of the deformations of two derivatively equivalent algebras can exhibit remarkably different behaviors.
Título: Self-similar solutions to Mean Curvature Flow.
Resumen: Geometric flows are a fundamental tool in geometric analysis, with deep applications across both pure and applied mathematics. They have played a central role in major breakthroughs, including the resolution of the Poincaré conjecture and the proof of the Penrose inequality in general relativity.
Among these flows, the Mean Curvature Flow is one of the most important and widely studied examples. In this talk, we will describe this geometric evolution equation, with particular emphasis on the so-called self-similar solutions. We will present several important examples and discuss some of their key applications.
Título: Local smoothing estimates for bilinear Fourier integral operators.
Resumen: It was first observed by Sogge in the 90's, that averaging in time the Lp-norm of the solution to the wave equation improves the loss of regularity established by Seeger-Sogge-Stein and Tao on Lebesgue spaces [SSS,T06]. This observation led to the formulation of the (linear) local smoothing conjecture for the wave operator. If true, this conjecture would represent a remarkable breakthrough, as it formally implies several other major open problems in harmonic analysis, including the Bochner–Riesz, Fourier restriction, and Kakeya conjectures, see Tao [T99]. This conjecture has been verified in dimension d=2 by Guth, Wang, and Zhang [GWZ].
The aim of this talk is to propose a bilinear version of the local smoothing conjecture [C26] and to verify this conjecture in dimension d=2 and for all odd dimensions d. The case where d is even remains an open problem.

Título: Existence and instability of standing-wave solutions in nematic liquid crystals.
Resumen: In this talk, we study a highly nonlocal coupled model arising in the propagation and interaction of two light beams in nematic liquid crystals. The model describes the evolution of two optical field envelopes interacting through a nonlocal medium response, where the nonlocality reflects the elastic properties of the nematic material and the influence of an external electric field. This framework was introduced to model the interaction of two solitary waves, known as two-color nematicons, and is closely related to earlier works in nonlinear optics and dispersive systems.
Depending on the choice of parameters, the model can be interpreted as a highly nonlocal limit of nematic equations or as a system related to nonlocal versions of the Davey–Stewartson equations. A key observation is that the original system can be reformulated as a pair of coupled nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equations through the use of a suitable nonlocal operator.
Exploiting this reformulation and the underlying variational structure, we investigate the existence and instability of standing-wave solutions. These solutions are characterized as minimizers of a positive energy functional under appropriate constraints. Their existence is established using the Concentration–Compactness Principle introduced by P.-L. Lions.
Finally, we analyze the dynamical behavior of these standing waves and show that they are unstable. Following an approach inspired by M. Weinstein, we use a virial-type argument to prove that solutions starting sufficiently close to a standing wave may undergo finite-time blow-up, under suitable conditions on the model parameters.
Título: Calderon's Problem, 45 Years Late.
Resumen: Calderon's inverse problem asks whether one can determine the electrical conductivity of a medium by making voltage and current measurements at the boundary. We will survey some of the most important results on this problem as well as mention some still open problems. We will make emphasis on analog inverse problems for the fractional Laplacian.
