Creation of a Meaningful Body of Work

5 month Art Intensive

Taught by Semblance Gallery Director

Veronica Dornsmith

It is a very common feeling to love art (and even be quite good at it!) but feel like you don’t know what your style is or what exactly you’re trying to say through your work.

This can leave many artists feeling like your work isn’t meaningful or impactful, which can deter you from continuing on as a professional artist.

I want to help you out of that rut.

In this Art Intensive, I work with small groups of artists to lead you through how to find your artistic voice and  how to create work in alignment with it.  This allows you to finally create artwork that is meaningful, impactful and deeply fulfilling, both for you as the artist making it, as well as those that have the privilege of seeing and interreacting with it.

I want you to be proud of your work, not only for your own satisfaction, but also so that you feel confident to get your work out there to the galleries and collectors who can make your dream of being a professional artist a reality.

You deserve nothing less.

Here is how this Intensive is laid out

Week 1 - Decoding your favorite artists.  Understanding the ‘Artist Manifesto’

Week 2 - Write rough draft of your personal Artist Manifesto / Thesis

Week 3 - Deepening your Thesis through raw life experience (part art theory, part therapy)

Week 4 - Color and material expression and how to refine them to your Thesis

Week 5 - Prep your materials for creation of your first Piece

Week 6 - Begin your first Piece

Week 7-10 - Presentations of works completed along with discussions and critiques

Week 11 - Deeping and refining of original Thesis

Week 12 - Presentations of refined Thesis

Week 13-15 - Presentations of works completed along with discussions and critiques

Week 16-17 - Final Exhibition for each artist in group
