Electron Beam Instrumentation:
The UCSB electron-beam facility consists of:
Cameca SX-100 electron microprobe with a CeB6 filament, an EDS detector, a CL detector, and 5 WDS detectors. Fully automated with Probe Software, Inc. Probe for EPMA.
FEI Quanta 400f field-emission, environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) with an EBSD detector, BSE detector, SE detector, EDS detector, and a CL detector. Rapid sample navigation, imaging and annotion using fully automated Probe Software, Inc. PictureSnapApp.
Sample prep facilities including: Precision slicing; Micro Mill; Vacuum impregnation and mounting; Grinding and Polishing; AU/Pd sputter coater; Turbo-pumped Carbon evaporator.
Associated Instrumentation:
The facility is supported by extensive associated Earth-Science instrumentation, including:
Agilent 7700x Quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer.
Nu Instruments Plasma HR multi-collector ICP with twelve Faraday cups and four low-mass ion counters.
Nu Instruments Plasma 3D multi-collector ICP with 16 Faraday cups, 5 low-mass and one high-mass Daly Detectors.
Cetac/Photon Machines 193 nm excimer G1 laser with HelEx cell.
Cetac/Photon Machines 193 nm excimer Analyte laser with HelEx cell.
Thermo Fisher Triton thermal ionization mass spectrometer.
Class 100 Clean Room suite.
