Selvan; தமிழ்ச்செல்வன் ரமேஷ்
I am the Chief Design Officer (CDO) of Ideavit. I am also an HRDC accredited trainer, educational psychologist, education consultant, and psychology lecturer, with a deep passion for transformative teaching and learning. Holding a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Universiti Malaya (UM), a PGCert in Higher Education Practice (Distinction) from Sunway University (SU), MEd in Educational Psychology from UM, and BA (Hons – Class 1) in Psychology from University of British Columbia (UBC), I am also a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA).
As a first-generation student from a socioeconomically disadvantaged background, my journey as an educator has been deeply shaped by the transformative teachers who guided and inspired me. My goal is to create a space for learners to make meaning of their lives by exploring theirs and others’ thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
As a psychology lecturer, with over a decade of experience teaching psychology at pre-university and undergraduate levels, I am dedicated to developing innovative teaching approaches such as gamification and creating avenues for students’ holistic growth. My initiatives include establishing student club, student bulletin, and academic trainee program.
I have been honored with several awards, including Award for Excellence in Teaching (Commendation), Student Appreciation of Teaching Award (2022, 2023, 2024), and Tan Sri Sir Jeffrey Cheah Scholastic Award from SU, as well as recognition as Valedictorian and Wesbrook Scholar at UBC. I also received the Malaysian Public Service Department Scholarship for undergraduate studies at UBC, Canada.
In my professional roles, I contribute to educational material development for prestigious organizations such as Cambridge University Press & Assessment and conduct trainings for professionals on learning and engagement. I also serve as VP II of Malaysian Association for Education and lead the Course Working Group for the CERTE (Connecting and Equipping Refugees for Tertiary Education) program. My work includes conducting special needs assessments for primary school pupils with the Selangor State Education Department, and serving as a reviewer for academic journals, internal ISO audits, and curriculum review panels.
I am an International Affiliate Member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and a Registered Psychologist with the Malaysian Psychological Association (PSIMA).
