Selside is 5 miles north of Kendal and 10 miles south of Shap. Personal transport or taxi is necessary for travel to Selside.
By road: The A6 from Kendal to Shap passes through Selside. Kendal is accessed from the south from M6 Junction 36. From the north leave the M6 at Junction 39 near Shap, and follow the signs to Kendal.
By rail [to Kendal]: The nearest rail station is Kendal on the line from Oxenholme to Windermere. Kendal is one stop [7 minutes] from Oxenholme, which is on the main west coast line. Oxenholme offers direct services connecting with London [Euston], Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
By bus [to Kendal]: There are daily bus services linking Kendal with Lancaster and with the Lake District National Park villages and towns of Windermere, Ambleside, Keswick and Coniston. Services [not all daily] also connect with Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh, Appleby, Penrith [via Tebay], Barrow-in-Furness and Grange-over-Sands.
