My Story

Hello, my name is Dr. Huy (Hwee) and I am a chiropractor and the creator of Selful. Not only is Selful a brand, but it is also my life story. And this began when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2016 right before I had graduated from undergrad. It was from that experience that ignited a desire inside me; to become the best version of myself - to become selful. So I then made a decision and committed to this journey. 

On one of the days my mom underwent chemo, I had a conversation with a cafeteria server and what he said saved us. He told me his aunt had also battled cancer and that the trick to beating cancer was to make her as happiest as possible - with love. I took his advice to heart and made it a conscious effort to love my mom as much as humanly possible. It was through the efforts of my love and the support of my loved ones that carried us through that battle. We did it. We beat cancer! As much of a happy end as it seemed at the time, my journey was still only at its beginning. 

Shortly after our cancer journey, I enrolled and got accepted to Parker University chiropractic college with the class in fall of 2017. School was not easy. However, my mom's strength and courage through her battle is what inspired me to push forward. Finally, after three and half long yet fast years later and the passing of five different boards licensure exams, I graduated amongst the class of December 2020.

And as much as I have accomplished so far, I still have a long way to go and now I have entered my next chapter - to serve people to best of my ability by the glory of God.
