Rectilinear forms designate interior administrative spaces while curved forms invite community members in and allow for flexible programming.
Voids found throughout the structure allow users to peer down into lower levels.
Irregular fluting adorns the fire station and distinguishes interior spaces on the exterior.
Site.
The project is located in midtown St. Louis, just minutes away from Saint Louis University, City Foundry, and Armory STL. It is also considered to be at the intersection of several historic neighborhoods, including what used to be Mill Creek Valley. The immediate surrounding site comprises mixed-use structures and college student apartment buildings. The design of the fire station reflects this demographic of young students and is meant to host CPR training classes while serving as both a second home and workplace for firemen.

Sections & Elevations.
The training tower supplements the fire station and borrows from its architectural language. Circular and rectilinear volumes melt right into each other, creating an airy structure.
East Elevation
This section includes the apparatus bay, bedrooms, gym, central staircase, training space, and community space. In general, private spaces are located on the upper levels while public spaces are concentrated on the ground level.
