Key Experiences

Over 15 years of diverse engineering experience in consulting and engineering firms and more than 30 international mega-projects worldwide. The main specialty is in structural engineering with emphasis on seismic and dynamic nature of structures in onshore, offshore, and petrochemical projects.

 

 Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI)

Seoul, S. Korea  (June. 2014 – Sep.2015  )

Role: Lead Structural Engineer, Hyundai Offshore Engineering Center (OEC), Seoul:

1)  Providing technical consultation for onshore and offshore projects.

2)  Technical training for Korean engineers (seismic design of structures).

 

Offshore projects

1)  Badamyar offshore project, offshore Myanmar, (Aug. 2014- Sep. 2015).

Role:

1)  Seismic analysis and design of 3 fixed steel jacket structures, 2 top sides, and 70.0 m steel bridge in a highly seismic active region in a challenging soil condition (water depth=45.0 m, pile length=120.0 m) using API-RP-2A and AISC codes.

2)  Seismic retrofitting of the low compression platform (LCP) steel jacket structure joints.

3)  Setting the structural analysis design basis and brief for the entire project (for detail engineering stage).

 

2)  Moho Nord FPU (Floating, Production, and off-loading Unit) vessel project, TOTAL, offshore Republic of Kongo, 1.3 billion$, (June. 2014- Aug.2015).

Role:

1)  Blast analysis technical review of the top side steel structure modules.

2)  Performance-based plastic design of a bumper structure of S-1 module.

3)  Technical review of detail engineering documents.

Offshore projects

Role: Lead Structural Engineer, Global Engineering Center (GEC), Seoul:

 1)  Egina FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Off-loading) world biggest vessel project, TOTAL, Nigeria, (Dec. 2013- 2014), 2.3 billion$ project.

Role:

1)  Leading a task-force team from Samsung Heavy Industries R&D center and offshore structural department of Samsung Engineering.

2)  Non-linear dynamic blast analysis of topside structure modules (detail design and verification)

 

2)  Nasr Project package#1 (Proposal), seven steel wellhead towers offshore platforms, ADMA OPCO, UAE, (May 2012- Dec. 2013).

Role:

1)  Dynamic analysis of fixed steel offshore structures against the wave, current, and wind loads.

2)  Pushover analysis of the jacket structure to check the reserve strength ratio (RSR) according to API using SACS software.

3)  A static check of different loadout schemes (skidding and trailer) of the topside steel structures.

 

3)  Umm Lulu Project (Proposal), fixed-type steel offshore platform, ADMA OPCO, UAE, (Oct. 2010-May 2012).

Role:

1)  Soil-pile structure interaction check using the dynamic p-y, t-z, and q-z curves according to API-RP-2A method.

2)  Vibration checks (vortex induced vibration VIV) for J-tube, riser, and caisson based on DNV code.

 

4)  ONGC (Bidding), B193 Offshore Fixed Platform, India, 2010.

Role:

Structural steel analysis and design review using AISC code for Detail Engineering report of B193 Process & L/Q fixed platform and NTP-1&2.

5)  PTT PCF Project, Offshore Fixed Platform, PTT, Thailand, (Oct. 2008-May 2009).

Role:

Dynamic analysis and structural check of the “Compressor” & “After-Cooler” Module structures during Loadout, Transportation & Installation.

 

6)  Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) Project, subsea pipeline, Malaysia, 2011.

Role:

Dynamic stability checks of subsea pipelines against dynamic environmental loads (Free spanning and resonance)

 

7)  Floating Storage jetty and Re-gasification Unit (FSjRU), proposal, (FSjRU FEED Audit & Engineering support- by Mustang), Uruguay.2010.

Role:

1)  Checking the calculations of mooring and berthing energy using OCIMF guidelines (Oil Companies International Marine Forum).

2)  Performing static and dynamic analysis considering non-linear soil-pile interaction to evaluate the global structural integrity of the jetty platform.

 

8)  Satah Full Field Development Project (proposal), Offshore Fixed steel Platform, Zacum Development Company (ZADCO). Abu Dhabi, UAE, 2010.

Role:

1) Structural verification of jacket and topside structures.

9)  Manzanillo LNG Terminal Project, KMS. Manzanillo, Mexico, 2009.

Role:

Design review of the construction and engineering of a discharge subsea pipeline.

 

10)   Lube Base Oil Project (LBOP), Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) & Neste Oil OYJ joint venture. (A 4.5 km long subsea pipeline construction design and engineering), Sitrah, Bahrain, 2009.

13)   Fertil 2: Ammonia Urea Complex Project, Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (FERTIL). Abu Dhabi, UAE, 2010.

1)  Dynamic analysis and vibration check of equipment structures (floors supporting equipments).

2)  Structural modeling and design of “Granulation” and “Synthesis” structures using Midas-Gen based on AISC and ASCE codes.
