In recent years, single-atom catalysts (SACs) have emerged as a promising new class of heterogeneous material that, bears the inherent advantages of both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts.  SACs typically comprise individual metal atoms (M) that are directly bonded with the support. Moreover, SACs have the dual advantage of nearly 100% atomic utilization as well as high stability and easy separation from reaction media. It emerged as an alternative to existing heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts.

Currently, I am involved in developing mainly 3d metal based single atom catalysts (SACs) employing various nitrogen containing ligands and characterize these SACs using multiple spectroscopic techniques (XANES, XPS, TEM etc.) to get deeper knowledge about their structural features. Also, I am involved in developing the formation of C-C, C-N bonds, and N-heterocycles by using these SACs.
