How It's Changed

Once again, we can see from a modern overhead view how much this area has changed since the 1950s, when the Turnpike and highway 71 first came through Strongsville. The most obvious difference is the SouthPark property itself, which includes the enclosed mall, parking lots, standalone stores, and a Cleveland Clinic building. We can also see the difference in the surrounding features and properties: Once again Royalton Road has widened (from four to seven lanes in the early 1990s) and we also see even more real estate development in every direction surrounding the mall. North of the enclosed mall, there is also another large shopping complex with a growing number of stores and restaurants. The physical landscape has changed, the use of the space has changed, and the boundaries dividing up the land have also changed over time.
