About Seeds for Sloane
Seeds for Sloane started after the loss of our sweet son, Sloane. Being new to grief, the only thing I, as his mom, was sure of was that I wanted his name to still be spoken. With grief being an uncomfortable thing for most people to be around, I wanted to create something that pushed the witnesses of your grief out of their comfort zones. I want Sloane to be remembered as much as I want your person to be as well.
Seeds for Sloane is meant to be a conversation starter: a way to plant something and show that your person matters and always will. Their name will continue to be said. Your pain is being held and cared for, and just as the wildflowers will grow, so will you and the people around you.
Why wildflowers? Planting and caring for these seeds can provide a sense of purpose and accomplishment; it promotes mindfulness and meditation allowing you a space to begin processing your grief, and can serve as a connection point to begin building the village you and those grieving need to continue in a world that hasn't stopped turning after a devastating loss.
I wanted to create a space where nature can help me feel more connected to Sloane. When butterflies visit Sloane's wildflowers, I smile, and it takes me back to reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar as he turns into a "beautiful butterfly," and Sloane is with me again.
I love you forever, Sloane
