OUR HISTORY
Sedo women empowerment organisation was established in November 2017 at Ugbenu, Oghara in Delta state. It started with 5 women who were given very little financial aid to boast their trade. The moment they got the financial aid they became transformed as a better mother and wife.
Some of them were poor single mothers and poor widows whose conditions were quite pathetic. It grew from 5-50 members. It was this quest that made the founder to get more drive to improve the women and the girl child.
Still on this quest their daughters who were involved in promiscuity as a result of poverty, they were lots of teenage mothers, pregnant little girls, some were School dropout with the fund they went back to school. The scholarship was quiet helpful, it put smiles on their faces.
These women became self sustained, they could thus provide for their children, especially their daughters which reduced problem off unwanted pregnancy, teenage motherhood, promiscuity etc.
It has helped to curb the issue of illiteracy.
The area of counselling, was not left out. These women were counselled, linked to medical team for them to have access to family planning.
The women learnt some skills like pomade making, little cosmetics from the scratch like soaps, vaseline etc.
For women who wanted to learn other skills they were aided too.
Sedo gave access to free medical care to these women and their children.
Presently Sedo is located in Lagos State, Nigeria and we are hoping to spread all over Nigeria and the diaspora Globally.
